Pens & Pies

Tue 27 Nov, 2018 @ 7:00PM

Jumpstart your creative brain with some writing challenges at our winter writing social! Struggling for ideas? Want a new challenge? Or any excuse for a mince pie? Bring a pen and paper, scoff on some free mince pies and enjoy an evening of writing challenges with Oxford Writers' House. In the vein of Kerouac's "Spontaneous Prose" and other forms of semi or subconscious writing, free-writing can be a great way to unblock your creativity and generate new ideas for more polished work, as well as generating writing which is interesting in its own right. The session starts at 19:00 and should last until about 20.45 (with the chance to socialise afterwards); comprising of several writing challenges to get your creative juices flowing and the chance to read out your work (which is completely optional!). Afterwards, we encourage you to stick around and socialise with other writers and finish off the many mince pies! 19:00 - Welcome 19:10 - Challenge 1 19:45 - Challenge 2 20:10 - Break 20:20 - Challenge 3 20:45 - Social 21:30 - End We look foward to seeing you there!
