OxShot #2 - Shelley Memorial

The Shelley Memorial

This monument at University College features Percy Bysshe Shelley washed on the shore at Viareggio in Italy after his drowning, sculpted in white marble by Edward Onslow Ford. Although Shelley was expelled from Oxford University, he remains one of its most famous alumni and the Memorial is now held in high honour.

"Oxshot" is our brand new snapshot series, photographed by Anastasia Tkach: every Monday, get a glimpse of the city's literary life, and be reminded of its astonishing cultural richness. One take, for your double-take.
